Personally I don't know about the MSD, other then from what I understand you set your own mapping. So you will either pay a builder to do that, or you understand it yourself. Personally, I would go with the Vortex again for me.....But it depends on what you future motor plans are

The Vortex comes with 10 different performance maps preset for you, and you can have them put in your own if you like. It has a switch that goes on your handlebars and you can choose between the best performance map or one of the other 9 that you select. I have not had an opertunity to try the different maps out, but the performance map is really nice, it made a difference. And changing between the second option of maps is as easy as getting a small screwdriver and turning a little know. I got mine for about $370 shipped. That was with Gopartsdirect.com

The MSD is SIMPLE to use.

Runs great with default settings.

Performance is great also.

On the negitive side, I did go through three of them. But honestly, it may not have been their fault.

well i have had them all vortex, woods and now the msd --this is just my 2cents but the msd has performed the best to me---also just my 2 cents again but it gave me more torque--i liked the settings you can place them how ever you want theres nothing to it-- i like being able to set my own settings

I run the MSD ignition. I don't like how big it is. I don't like how much it cost. I don't like that we had to do so much rewiring to install it, that it will be a major project to ever switch to something else.

I like how easily it adjusts and it seems to run flawlessly. I like the fact that it doesn't allow much advance if any below 1500 rpm. That saves the sprag clutch.

That is about it.

I have the MSD and if your a full racer and don't mind cutting and doing some re-wiring the MSD is GREAT but if you want to basicly plug something in and go the VORTEX is for you!! I may be selling my MSD soon. Building a whole new machine?!?
