the only thing i can tell you is to make sure you get it jetted right. With alcohol you will need to go up about twice the size of jets you have in for gas. Also i would run a top lube in it to help the top end.

klotz makes a really good stuff. Most of the dirt track racers here in southwest iowa use that stuff if they run alcohol. It is more personal preference of what you want to run, but i would definately look into the klotz. jrmotorsports.com or speedwaymotors.com they both have top lube. They even have the scented stuff to make your machine smell better!

I don't think it's a good idea for the setup you have listed in your sig. I have/do run alky on my Z, but have the necessary components to do so. Trust me, its not just a "thing to try", you have to have the right jets...meaning drilled out mains and special alky needles, (tthe large pilots are easily found however), have to make sure you can pump enough fuel from the tank to the carb, etc. The stock carb's float bowl isn't big enough to hold enough alky for runs up the hill. Purging it a whole nother thing as well.

I'm not telling not to go that way...I'm just saying be prepared to spend a LOT of time tuning, a lot of time setting up, and time for unexpected difficulties! If you really wanna go through with it PM me and I'll let ya know what you need to do... that goes for anyone else as well...

Edit: Looking back I see you have the FCR... which is much easier than the stocker...

bulldogz400, thanks for the help but im really trying to talk my self out of it(i think i have). 2 of my friends run it on a ds and raptor. they are wanting to see what it would do on mine. i to would like to see but thatmy baby. i could care less if it messes my shee up but my 400 's my fun toy!!!
i was thinking more of the almost $6 a gallon c-12 and the $2.50 alcohol. but i rather be safe and spend the money on gas.

thanks for the .02 everybody!!!

No problem...if you do decide to try it sometime just gimme a shout...and yeah alky is cheaper but if you think about it...you use almost twice as much so that $2.50 a gallon will get you as far as 1/2 a $6 gallon of race gas (easy math of $3 worth of C-12), so the deal really isn't that great.

With what you have for a set up, the vp c-12 race gas should be good enough. You probably would only notice a small amout of power gain by switching. Plus like bulldog said, you will be spending alot of time and money getting it set up. I would just leave it where it is at.

P.S.- the top lube i was talking about is similar to the oil that you would add to a 2 stroke. It is NOT just motor oil that you add to the alcohol. You basically do the same thing with it as 2 stroke oil, but it is made specially for alcohol to lube the top end since alcohol burns really dry.
