Just curious whos raptors are still going strong?Mine is on its third set of tires and hanging in there. The gearing does suck though.I cant believe they put them on the market with reverse that way.I will upgrade some day when I get the cash.

No problems yet here either. After a long hard life the entire quad still runs great. I have made the clutch stink a time or two on some bad rocky climbs though. On my third set of tires on the back too.

i have a 01 raptor and i havent had any problems with the trans on it. and im also real happy with the gearing for it along with a 12 tooth front sprocket.
and to answer your question about what is wrong with it. correct me anyone if im wrong but from what i been hearing thye took the motor in the raptor out of a road bike but never beefed up the trans for the off road abuse. i was also told doin 2nd gear holeshots your takin a real good chance of blowing the second gear right out of the case. but the more i ride mine the more i think people make it sound like it will break soon as you take it out. i ride my raptor real hard thats what i bought it for and the only thing that has gone wrong with it as of right now is my clutch other then that im real happy with it

the only thing i would worry about tarnsmission/engine wise would be the one-way starter clutch assembly------------i had to replace one and i thought it was odd but i guess rappy's are infamous for them

The 12 tooth front sprocket does help first and second gear for sure.I do notice though when you ride in sand and there is a lot of drag you still bog down shifting into 2nd.If you miss a shift going into 2nd dont crunch it into gear and 2nd gear holeshots I would stay away from.Im happy with the raptor just reverse drives me crazy.I loved reverse on my warrior it was like a granny gear. You have to ride the clutch on the raptor so you dont roost mud in your face.
