Default LT250R for Racing?

Buddy of mine has a LT250R for sale, I think its an 1990. Anyways I want to be able to take it back in the trails but still take it to the track for a few races so. The bike already has full pipe reeds and filter, good tires and everything. I just want to know if this old beast with mods is still capable to keep up with the bikes on the track (LTZ 450, YFZ, 450R, 250R, Z400 etc.) or will it just get blown away by the new 450s?

If you are just going to trail ride and hit a race every now and again, I think the Quadracer might work well for you. Be forewarned, they don't handle anywhere near as well as the modern 450's, and the stock suspension is from the stoneage by comparison. Still, if you don't take the racing to seriously you can have a lot of fun on it.
