i just bought a 2006 bruin 250. i've only had it about a month. when i have the throttle pushed all the way it spits and sputters! why? it only does it when the throttle is wide open! i'm very happy with it but just don't know why its doing that! anyone know????? thanks

lets me rephrase it! i don't guess you would call it spit and sputtering maybe a skipping!!!

Is it totally stock? Air box lid still on?
If you pull on the choke, at 1/2 throttle, and then go to wide open..does it get better or worse?

That should be under warranty - instead of messing with it and voiding the warranty i'd just take it back to the dealership and let them deal with it. Dealerships are slow sometimes so it may take a while, but you don't want to void the warranty by working on it yourself.

Sounds like you may be hitting the rev limiter to me.

yes everything is stock. i thought maybe it was the "breaking in" process because the manuel say for first 10 hours do not open the throttle but half way and then after that 3/4 way open for next ten. something about lubricating the motor. i didn't know if it was normal and it would stop once the motor was lubricated. i don't know anything about this stuff!!!!!

So let me see if i got this right..it only happens at wide open throttle in 5th gear? It wont happen at wide open in 4th?
Octane of the gas wont change a thing, but if the gas is old...it could cause issues.
The rev limiter is built into the cdi(computer/spark box), and will cut spark if the motor is over revved.(past redline)
You should be able to feel the rev limiter, and be careful if you try this, by going into reverse, in a wide open area, and guning the gas. Itll sputter and misfire, and thats due to the rev limiter. The threshold for revs is much lower in reverse, for a safety factor.
