Same old question, what to buy??
#1
I currently have a 1994 Warrior, but a buddy just bought a 06 DS650 Baja, and another buddy has a 660 raptor, and yet another buddy has a z400(03). We haven't been out together yet, but I know my little beat up warrior isn't goin to run with the big boys. What should I be buying, we are all sledders, so we do lots of highspeed running down backroands, ditches and fields, as well as some mx track riding, and alot of hills and gravel pits, pretty much every type of riding there is except for tight trails. I've been looking at a KFX400, but I'm kinda worried about a "little" 400 out with a 650 and a 660, how would a 400 fair against these machines? What do the 400's top out at, as compared to the 600cc machines?
Any and all suggestions/arguements will be appreciated!

Of the machines you mentioned, the 400 will HANDLE the best. The motor and chassis are excellent, and it has a lot of hop up potential, so don't be fooled by the mild machine in stock form. You won't have the fastest quad, but you will easily outhandle the clumsy DS and the tippy Raptor!

I have both 2004 400ex and 2005 ds650. Both bikes are very well built. The DS650 has more ground clearance and a softer ride. (It's not clumsy). Very stable.....
The 400ex is a good quad too.. Great power. good handling. The seat is hard, it's more for the MX track. Ride the trails all day your butt will hurt. Plus 400ex is very tippy... But all and all I love both of my bikes. I would go with the 450R by honda. That would be a good bike for ya. just never liked the Z400 to much, I don't know it just looks funny...

I have watched my buddies kfx400 outrun another friends 660 raptor numerous times. Eventually the 660 does catch it because its top speed is better.
The KFX400's are pretty freakin quick. It only has 5hp less than the 660 raptor. DOHC 400cc is pretty nice. Check out the side of the header pipe on the kfx/ltz400's. Its huge. They are very quick.
Raptor is nice also but both the guys I know with them have had some issues.
My 400ex seems to take large jumps the best. The 660 will bottom out. I am not sure how the kfx will do since the guy that rides it never gets as much air as us. But the shocks have remove reservoirs so I assume they can take a good deal of abuse.
