Default 700 not bad in first MX race

Mothers day i had my first ever MX race or any race for that matter. I raced quad c and there were some great riders there. Almost every one had lot of money in thier quads. I was pretty much stock with just an intake and TFI controller. My first race i finnished 10th out of 20. Next race 14th out of 25. It was real fun. Those 450's are unbelievably fast. The only complaint was it was too tippy on the sharp turns. I would come up on two wheels almost every turn. Also there is too much bottom end and not enough top. I was in second a lot of the time in the tight sections with not very much power because i was high in the rpm. How would i get a little more top end? I was third both holeshots. A TRX and YFZ that were crazy fast was always out ahead no matter what. Soon I will be ordering wider A arms and differnt rear axle. Any suggesions? Thanks

Hey man congrats on the race, you did real well for a basically stock machine. Looks like if you plan on taking racing serious your wallet needs to get seriously lighter. Yea those a arms and axle are real important for the track. Maybe try a different combo of sprockets for better gearing. I know sound is an issue in racing but an exhaust would open that thing up some. Good luck in future races and I might be up there for a couple to watch, or maybe even race if I make some money this summer.

try different front sprockets to change the gearing where you need it if cash is limited

adjusting the shocks is also important, I went with an Elka suspension and that lowered my ride height a couple inches which got rid of any tippiness
