Importing machine to Canada from US
#1
hey, kinda new to the forum, seems pretty wicked, I am looking at getting a new machine in the next month or so and was wondering if anyone has ever imported a quad from the States to Canada? Wondering about the final cost and if its a hassel with a bunch of paperwork and stuff. If anyone has any idea about duties, taxes, tarrifs or any other info on this topic at all it would be greatly appreciated. Also I heard the under NAFTA, If the machine a bought was made in the US, Canada or Mexico that it might not have any duty to pay on it. Wondering if there is any truth to that. Thanks alot for any info,

yes i know for a fact that if its made in the us for sure you dont have to pay duty on it but if its like from japan then you do. you will have to pay the gst and pst when you bring it across as well, that is if you declare it.

Jap, ATV are subject to a 6.1% Duty. anything made in Canada USA or Mexico NO DUTY. Also you must pay a $209 border fee goto www.riv.ca for more details

wicked. thanks alot guys. I think this is the route im gonna take. It seems to be a pretty decent deal buying from the states now that our canadian dollar is so high. Im not sure if im gonna buy brand new or slightly used but I was wondering if I were to purchase a brand new machine with warranty, or even a used 05 or 06 that still had warranty on it, is the warranty transferable and good in canada? I just wanna make sure I cover all bases before I make this huge purchase. Thanks alot for any and all info guys.
