What's with the Can-Am???

Serveral reasons. The number one reason for the name change is that BRP didn't have a name for their line of atvs. They were just called Bombardier ATV. Just like BRP snowmobiles are ski-doo and watercraft are sea-doo, their atvs are now can-am. Second reason that they chose can-am was because of the history of the can-am motorcycles in the 70's and 80's. They were fast and won lots of races. Can-am meant high performance and thats what BRP wants the consumer to think when you hear the name. BRP wanted to bring back the can-am name a few years back, but the Traxter and Quest models didn't exactly make people think high-performance. Now w/ models like the Outy 800, Renegade, and class leading power of the other Outlander models, Can-am stands for today what it did a few decades ago.
Do a web serch on articles about the name change. Some interesting info and good interviews w/ the BRP president Jose Bosijoli. He talks about the name change, what they hope to accomplish w/ their atvs, and about racing again w/ the new 450 sport quad. Seeing how ski-doo and sea-doo hold the lead in their marketshare, BRP is hoping to do the same w/ can-am. They have a long way to go to get there and have to take down the top three (Yamaha, Polaris and Honda) to do it.

How could they? Yamaha is the king of dirtbikes and if the other japs can't, there is no way Can-Am can.
Look at the ATVs, they can not compete in the sport market, so how can they compete in bikes?
