Default beefing up my kodiak 450 2004 model help..advise please..

I want to beef up my kodiak 450....the thing is i need some advise on the parts i put on it....i want to put exhaust, wheel spacers for width, clutch kit, tires, kN filter. anything to give it more nuts short of a bore kit (dont want to tear it down)

now do i get 1" or 1.5" spacers,,,where can i purchase them at a good price online?

which exhaust and jet kit,,,,,HMF, FMF, Big Gun?

which clutch kit,,,epi or dalton?

i have too many questions, i just want to beast it out so i can get across creek crossings and mud runs quicker, i got pulled out by a rubicon this weekend i didnt hear the end of it..i just seems his honda was snappier than the kodiak, but i could reel him and and pass him with ease on the roads in the country going from spot to spot....help me out i want to get this thing modded quick. It felt real tipsy going down hills and grades at angles, i think the spacers would help that. I am going to keep the tires stock size so it wont bog down.

thanks,

JAson

Filter air vents from Uni in your airbox along with a dynojet-kit will go a long way with what you have listed....

You probably dont need to go too nuts on parts. I have a 04 kodiak, and itll outdo my foreman in the mud. In fact most hondas are very poor in the mud , due to the low ground clearance of the rear and front diffs. Not only that, nut the kodiak also has the advantage of a fully locking front diff...something the hondas dont have.
I dont mean any disrespect, but maybe some 4x4 mudding practice or tutoring will get you further.
I know what you mean about tippsy..id go for 1 to 1.5 wider per side on back only. When you extend the front, the feedback to the handlerbars gets more severe, when you bang into rocks and logs. The wheels get more leverage, and can be quite unpleasant. Widening up the back, allows those two tires to be slightly off the ruts from the front, and gives more traction, instead of just following the same rutted path, that the fronts made.
As far as getting crap from the boys.... just grin and bear it, and remember, what comes around goes around.

ATV Outfitters sells a kit for $295. It includes an HMF slip-on pipe, K-N air, and Jet kit. Put on ITP Mud-Lites, 26-12-12 rear, 26-10-12 front, mounted on ITP steel wheels with the simulated bead lock. Do a High Lifter 2 inch lift kit and put on a Warn front bumper with light kit. You may want to do a clutch kit, but do these other mods first. This stuff wakes up the 450 and also makes it look like the baddest atv around. If you get into much more than these mods, you might as well get a Grizzly 660.
