O.K. here is my problem. I just purchased a 06 yfz 450 and come to realize that the type of riding that i do i need some more ground clearence. i would like to know if getting bigger rear tires will hurt the bike. Making the bike slower isn't that important b/c it is fast enough. please let me know if there are any suggestions with tires or other options! Thanks

 

Larger tires will give you more ground clearance and will take away a little acceleration. But it might also make you a little more top heavy.

 

It wont hurt the bike it will just change the gearing some. You will lose a little down low but gain top speed. This can be ballanced back by changing a sproket size so is no big deal if dont like the new gearing. It will change the handling some but I dont think you will notice much from 1 size change. The 450 has such a low center of gravity it wont make it top heavy

 

Thanks, in your opinion what is the largest (tallest) tire you would go with.

 

22 on back and 23 on front
