I just read a mag where they tested the 500 Sportsman HO "smooth..blabla...", but they compare the HO acceleration with a Traxter XT...and the XT is faster. Can this be real?
I'm not asking that to know which one is faster, but to know if I will ever buy that mag again...there's some BS here and there ("the blackwaters are the best mud tires you can find").
BTW, it's a quebec mag (where's bombardier's home?).
So, if you know for real which one accelerates better, please tell me if I should dump that mag, and never again waste my money on it.

Personally, I would have thought the HO is faster...but I could be wrong.

Well, I've never even SEEN a Traxter, although I was trying to find one when I was considering which utility to buy. Couldn't find one here.

From what I've read, the Traxter is a pure utility quad. Not made for speed or quickness, only for workability. I find it very hard to believe that it could be quicker. I think it supposedly tops out around 45 mph. And the XT is the same quad, with cosmetic upgrades, like wheels and winch.

I have a traxter...there is no way that it's faster than a Sp...let alone a SP HO

I read that same article and the author seems to be a performance nut who rides motocross.

Whether it is fact or fiction I would not know? I have problems believing it because the XT has 26 inch tires, does it not? My Xplorer with the 26" tires really suffered and it is known to be swift. The HO is supposed to be pretty fast too.

Lets go rent one and find out!

H.O. wins, and wins big. I've rode with both.

Cant see it even beating a non H.O SP. The traxter is the only other quad that weights even more than the Sportsman. They just lowered the Traxter's price from $9000 to $8500 here so maybe I will run see one on the trails now.

I have rode a sportsman 500 and I own a Traxter XT. The Sportsman is a little faster on acceleration. But the XT handles much better,
a better climber and a better mudder. Sportsman
has superior trail riding comfort but falls behind
in more demanding off road applications. Although
I have yet to ride the HO.

ranpap,

Could you elaborate on this statement? "but falls behind
in more demanding off road applications."

Thanks

how is the traxter a better mudder?? doesent the pumpkin get hung up on mud easier on a traxter than on a sp500 with IRS??

when i get all four tires spining i can go almost anywhere. could go more places if i had better tires.
