Ok... it seems like almost all 700r owners talk so much smack that its causing pollution in the air.. Wtf is the real speed on these things.. so many ppl talk crap yet none race on streets. I heard 90 lmao... 85... 102.. but what i heard is the 660 is more pwoerful and fast. So lets have real facts come in.. whats the speed on these things? because it seems like not 1 owner has yet to track test, car speed test or anything their raptors. and i want to kno the truth and prove that its just yamaha's attempt to make more money with a quad that has alot of luster but no honest hp or speed. BONE STOCK!!!

Right around 80mph. They say that theres a limiter that cuts them out at 7500RPM in 5th gear. BTW The only people that hate Yamaha's are the one who don't have them.This is my 2nd new Yamaha both have be totally awesome.My 99 yz125 was a awesome bike back in its day just like the Raptor is today.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

I race motocross with my raptor and its fast. About even with a lightly modded yfz. And who have you heard say that the 700 goes 100 mph. Not on this forum

 

I don't know the top speed, but that motor is for real. I would figure mid 70's for a top speed also, that seems to be where the faster sport quads all end up. Of course Yamaha has freshend up one of it's lineup to sell more quads, but I am not real sure where you have been the last 6 or 7 years. Yamaha 4 strokes have consistently produced good power numbers compared to similar offerings from other manufacturers

 

Well Ive never heard anyone claim there stock 700 did 100mph and if mine will its not going to do it with me on it lol

Ive always heard stock was around 75 maybe little more. The raptor has plenty of speed who rides around at 80mph for very long anyway. It was built with a ton of torque for trail riding and thats were it shines.

 

I have lined up against my mate on his 660 on numerous occasion's and not once has he even come close to be being faster than my 700. They are both stock and i don't think riding ability has much to do with it considering we are going in a straight line..... Not a chance a non fuel injected 660 is quicker than a fuel injected 700. As for top speed, well that i'm not sure about, but i say fast enough..... For now [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

One of my buddys got a new raptor and claimed it did 95.. but when we hold it wide open on the road he doesn't seem to be pulling me by that much once are engines are revved out

After the whole cpsc thing, and lawsuits in the 80's the manufacturers agreed not to make a stock quad that could do 80.
