Went to the Honda dealer today to get a filter and oil for my first oil change on an 06 rubicon. I asked for 10w40 per the owners manual and the salesman gave me 5w30. He said a service bulletin came out recommending 5w30 because of some transmissions problems with 10w40. What do you guys think?

 

I have a 05 Rubicon that has 2200 miles on it and changed oil every 600 miles with 10w40 honda oil with no problems.

 

Ask to see the sevice bulletin, and post it for everybody's edification!

To me 5W30 is a winter oil, but they have you running it year round in most cars these days.
