Default Please help... the Raptor is sick

Its been sitting for a while... when I cranked it up, it idled like crap. I had someone who "knew what they were doing" go through and redo the carbs, and adjust the timing... but the situation still exists. The only mods that have been done is yoshi full exhaust, jet kit, and k&n. When it cranks up, you have to keep on the throttle to make it run but it backfires and misses the whole time. If you turn the petcock valve until it is between OFF and RES, the bike idles just fine (with exception to a little jutter here and there) but its day and night compared to before... any ideas?

Dump the gas you have and clean the carbs again and clean the gas tank. Clean the gas tank with carb cleaner and let it sit in the tank for a couple hours, and shake it up now and then. Open up the carbs and clean them yourself and blow them out and shoot some carb cleaner into the floats and let it sit to get the junk out of there. Clean the choke spring too, that is usually filled with junk, check your carb boots to make sure that none of them have fallen off before you do this whole process, check every boot well and make sure they are not off the least bit, if it wont idle and rev very good, check the right one really good. Because the right carb is meant for bottom end rpms on the raptor and the left is mid and top. Clean your airfilter and airbox too.

Nope, I just double checked them... they are both connected and secure. No cracks or anything.

You can send that $10 via paypal!
