Default How do I take off the governor?

Ok, so my friend has this old grandma scooter. We have just been screwing around with it but it has a governor. Is there any way to get rid of the governor and keep the scooter running? Has anyone else done it or know of a reference site? It could be really funny!!

Depends on the engine you have. Some of the old scooters had internal systems, some didn't. All can be bypassed or reset to govern at higher or lower speeds.

Chances are you will destroy the engine of this "old grandma scooter" while being "funny".

I think it has an internal system because even when the scooter is off and its in neutral and you push it too fast it will kick in.

That reaction to wanting to slow the scooter when you are pushing it sounds more like one of the variable speed drive belt systems that were on some of the old Cushman scooters. Is there a drive belt from the engine to a jackshaft and then a chain to the rear wheel? Some of those old Cushmans have fairly good collector value with the people interested in such things.
