A couple of old riding buddies really ticked me off the other day. I was hanging out with them before they went riding. Of course I couldn't go that day because I had no ride. I told them I was thinking about getting a new T-Blazer in the spring since I sold the Warrior.

They pretty much laughed dead in my face. They started bashing the Polaris design and saying how the 250 was WEAK. I won't go on about what they said. Lets just say I got offended.

Now I'm a man on a mission to make them respect the T-Blazer. I know the T-Blazer isn't too shabby straight out of the box. But, I know it isn't even in the same league as the old 2-stroke 250's I used to ride.

I want to make it as BAD as possible without going inside the motor. I'm going to spend the winter researching. Please post a list of mods and approximate performance gains. Also any tips on shaving off some weight would be appreciated. I have a friend who makes aircraft parts that may be able to build me a super-light frame. If any of you have had your machine apart and know what any of the parts weigh, please post that too. I'm very curious as to what makes the Trailblazer so heavy.

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLIES!!!

BigKahuna said it right. Get the whole kit. Pipe, clutches & all & your so-called friends will be in for a SURPRISE! Just tell Rick what you want, how much you are willing to spend, and he will fill you in with the details.

Now believe you me, duster, I know how ya feel. Try rittercycle.com, hotseatperformance.com, erlandsonperformance.com, ftrperformance.com, hpd-inc.com, or even denniskirk.com or rockymountainatv.com. I'm sure 800twin can tell ya how to make the fastest TBlazer around, too. i think I'll stick to the fastest 3 wheeler around, myself (86atc+91cr500=damn scary)

I hate to break it to you but you will never get a trailblazer as fast as your Warrior was without going into the engine. I used to own a Warrior and now own a '00 TrailBlazer that has the RCR stage 1 kit installed. The Warrior would beat the Trailblazer by something like 15-20 mph on the top end and will easily out-accelerate it. The stage 1 kit did help some but it is still a DOG! I bought this machine for my wife and kids to ride and they all complain that it's gutless. My girls weigh in at maybe 80 pounds and my wife is about 115. When I get on it (230 pounds) I feel as though I am running the guts out of it to get me up some of the fairly easy and not-so-steep trails. Before you think I am just ******* on Polaris - think again. I am the proud owner of a '99 Scrambler 4x4 with the 2-stroke 400 engine in it with the RCR Stage 1 kit and that thing absolutely Rips. In fact I toasted a couple of raptors with it last week but that's a different story (It was in a few inches of snow going up a dirt road but I was in 2 wheed drive to sort of make it fair). I suppose I might feel better about my purchase of the TrailBlazer after I get the engine worked over. I guess it just boils down to the fact that the TrailBlazer is the only electric start, automatic, fairly light and well handling quad that has also has reverse, available. The trailblazer if it's piped is almost a good machine for women and children but it would need about triple the power it has now for me to ride it. Heck my kids can barely get around in the dunes with it, it bogs down quickly trying to get up even small hills. I tried to put some "Trekker" v paddles on it which aren't very agressive at all and it actually slowed it down. If you want my opinion get a Scrambler or Sport and put your friends in there place with authority. Where I live you can pick up a piped Sport for about the same price as a Trailblazer, something to think about anyway. If you are small statured and don't mind spending lots of money in engine mods, the TrailBlazer might be just the ticket.

If you have the money take the TB to Rick Ritter and let him work on it himself, it won't be cheap but it would be worth it to see a TB that really screamed. My advice would be to call Rick and see what he thinks. I owned a TB and have talked with Rick quite a bit and when it comes to Polaris's he knows his stuff.

I checked out some web sites. RCR, Hotseat and HPD were the only ones I found much on. The RCR stage one kit seems like the best deal. HPD claims the Trailblazer will make 30hp with there pipe only. Has anyone seen a dyno on the RCR kit? Also is anyone using the RCR kit along with a roller clutch? How much difference does the lightened flywheel make?

THANKS!!!

OKAY all you trailblazer owners listen up!!!!!!!
I've been talking to Darrell at HPD. He is working on a conversion kit for the trailblazer to convert it from a piston port to a reed valve.
The kit will include a converted head, carb, clutch spring and trail pipe. He claims 36hp at the crank. The price for the kit has not been decided yet.
I plan on getting mine done as soon as the price is set.

I rode the HpD reed cage 250 . It ran pretty good , nothing to compare it to at the time , but it did seem to run pretty well .

I was up visiting Daryl and Sue in August , nice folks , Daryl even bought us dinner.
