Default E-ton opinions please...

OK my daughters best friend is selling her E-ton 90cc cause her father baught her a new 200cc polaris. Its a 2003 i think and he baught it new. Our family is looking to get into the ATV thing and i need some input. I was thinking of buying the eton from them for my 7 year old son. They are asking $800 for it. Is this a good price? He a motor head and i know he takes good care of all his toys.

Next is what i should buy for my 10 year old daughter so she can go riding with her friend. After all the reading ive been doing in this forum the past 2 days I am considering the yamoto 150cc for her. I was thinking she could easly handle the 150 and wouldnt outgrow it anytime soon. So what are your thaught on that?

Next is the wife and I. Im 6'2" and 220 would a 150 be enuff for trail riding with the kids? I was also looking at maybe getting a cart. Would a 150cc single seat cart be ok for trail riding with the kids or would leave there fat old man in the dust? Definitly gonna have to go chinese dont have the money to buy japanese. Thanks for your input in advance and did imention Im so glad i found these forums they are awesome.

The eton is a great choice and 800 seems like a good price. However I would NOT go with Yamoto. Go with the JetMoto 150 for the older daughter and the wife. For you I would go with the JetMoto 200. I would not go with a cart because they are not reallytrail friendly. They dont manuver like a quad will. The JetMoto quads are by far the best Chinese quads out. The suspension is plush and the motors run very well. Or you can find a couple Polaris trail blazers or trail boss' for the adults for less than 2k each. But if you are strapped for cash and are just getting into the quad scene the JetMoto brand is the way to go.

eton 90's are good machines and you won't beat that price, buy that one! as for the yamoto i have no experiance with them . you'll need a bigger atv than a 150 for yourself tho, and stay away from the single seat carts. it will shake yer guts right out plus no reverse and way underpowered. look for a used polaris 250 will work good for you and your wife and will make a nice step up for the kids when you want a bigger one

you wont go wrong with e-ton

Our Eton has been awesome.Absolutely no problems with it at all.The $800 dollar deal sounds like a good one...Can't comment personally on the other atv's but haven't heard too much good stuff about alot of the Chinese quads...I would also look around and try to find a used bigger CC name brand machine for yourself.

I would say yes on the E-ton. Technically, your son should be on a 70cc or less, and your daughter on a 90cc or less. That may vary depending on local laws, etc. If you plan on riding state/federal land that might become an issue, or it might not. Either way, make sure the quad is a good fit for your child. I would look around for a used Suzuki LT80 or Honda TRX 90. Both are practically indestructable, have been around for years, and parts are a local dealership away. The Suzuki may fit your son better anyway, as it is on the smaller side. I see these in my area for $1200.00 all day long. For mom and dad, I would go bigger than a 150. Those little 2 stroke 90's can move after a little prodding, you don't want to get left behind! Again, I would look to a used Jap 250 or so. Honda sells the Recon/250EX models that are right up your alley, Suzuki has the Ozark/Z250 in the same class, and there are others as well. I have no clue how long a Jetmoto may hold up, although they seem to be about the best of the cheaper makes, but those Hondas will be running 20 years from now. They provide much better 'legacy' possibilities when the kids are ready to step up. I would probably try for at least one small ute, something you can saddle up with a few drinks/snacks/tools/first aid kit. The usual stuff to keep the kids happy. Another option is to look into dirt bikes. The little name brand ones are much cheaper than the quads, new or used.

Thanks for all your opinions and I would still ike some more feedback on the chinese machines if anyone could. Dirt bikes our out of the picture for this family. Had a bad experience on them when i was a kid and feel much safer with 4 wheels under me butt. I live in colorado and the trail system here is amazing thats the only reason i was thinking of a cart. The trails here wind threw the mountains and believe it or not are maintained by the forest service so bot to bumpy unless you get into the 4x4 trails. Those trails wont be used for along time to scared of getting hit by a jeep flying down the trail. Again thanks for the opinions and more would be greatly appriciated on the cheaper quads wanna get into this as cheap as i can and i do know how to mechanic so thats not a problem.

Thanks,
Terry
