So I'am Buying a new quad tommarow and going to look at both of these what do you guys think I should get ?

 

i would say the 450r

 

They are so close to equal, that one can't decide for another. You have to feel them both out, and see what fits you. Coming off a Raptor, you will probably like the YFZ. For me, though, its TRX all the way.

 

The Honda is a multi-time Baja winner. In the last 1000, nine out of the top ten finishers were R's. That says a lot about the durability of this machine!

If I were just riding around a track, I might choose the Yamaha, but for cross-country, it's the R.

 

hondas are the fastest out there right now, and you get the honda reliability. no question the 06 trx450r is the best machine out there right now.

sorry but the 450R isnt the fastest bike out there. But yes you are in a honda forum, everyones gonna say 450R, go try em out and see what you think, i've heard that they are pretty much equal but i think the YFZ handles better, as well look up the maintenance before you get yourself into this, i've talked to buds with these bikes and they are sick of the maintenance because they are not racing and sponsored, there is just so much maintenance to do so often for the speed, one buddy even sold his. Good luck with your new bike anyways

 

2stroke400scrambler, If the Honda's not the fastest then which one is. All the different test sure seem to say Hondas got the fasest motor and the most Horsepower but you seem to know better.
What other maintance are we required to do that others dont. Dont your buddies ever change there oil or clean there filter. Tell me what I'm missing.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

i was asking myself this question 3 months ago and went out to a dealer ship that let me ride both i fount the yfz's gear placement weird might have been better with a wider torque band or taller gearing. i also wwent on the fact that we've had many honda's and yamaha's since i was a child and the hondas have always been more reliable.

 

Get the Honda.... They look better, have better suspension, better brakes, and as everyone will tell you they are far more reliable... Stock to Stock I think the YFZ is a little faster up top, but once you drop a few mods in to them The Honda is going to be better... I mean look at the YFZ brake rotors are a solid rotor, is that high performance ? NO ... The Honda has drilled rotors front and rear, plus who wants to ride a blue and white bike anyways, GO HONDA GET THE BLACK WITH THE RED FRAME
