Raptor 700R intake and exhaust questions
#1
Hello everyone. Its great to be back on here. I used to be on ATV Connection a lot more a while back, but then my Raptor 660R was stolen. Anyways, I just bought a 700R 50th Anniversary and I'm glad I'm back in the quad world. I am going to Idaho soon, and I need to have at least an intake and pipe on my 700. I already got the intake figured out, same setup as my 660, with an intake plate and a K&N filter with prefilter, but I don't know about the pipe. I loved my GYTR race pipe on my 660, but I don't know how the 700 versions are. I know the GYTR will work with the current ECU mapping for the EFI, but will it work with the intake on there also, with more air flow? Also, are there any other choices for pipes that I should/can consider, using the stock mapping? Or am I just gonna have to break down and buy a programmable ECU right away? I apoligize in advance. I know that I could probably do some searching on here and other places and find the answers, but I am in a desperate hurry with work and everything, so any input, advice, or answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well I have decided to spend the money on an EFI/ECU controller right away. Now the question is which one? I see Trinity has one and it looks simple to use. Is there an ECU that can be modified on the go right from the box, AND from a computer if there is one available? I feel like that would be the best bet for me.
As for exhaust, from what you guys have said and what I have read, I have narrowed my choices to the Yoshimura and Trinity pipes, with the GYTR pipe still a consideration just for the fact that I remember how great it sounded on my 660R. What do you guys think? Is there a comparision article I can read for the 700R exhausts?
Thanks for the time and help.

Just from personal experience tuning on my 700R and other's I reccomend the Power Commander III USB you can read about it here Link This EFI controller is user friendly and has a database of free downloadable maps for a ton of combinations of mods. If you like to tune you can do so by changing values on the individual cells at any throttle opening at any RPM thru out the fuel curve with the software provided on you home PC or Laptop and you can fine tune via manual button adjustment on the controller itself if so desired. Soon an add on module will be avalible to adjust the ignition curve as well. The unit can be found for as little as 239.00 if you look around.
All the single exhaust systems are pretty close to the same power output for the 700R but most are very loud in my opinion and the Trinity has a whistle that I find annoying. I prefer the more expensive LTE duals as they give great low end, killer midrange as well as a good top end boost with a melow low throaty tone that sounds real nice and not to loud. They also come with quiet cores if you need to meet 93 db sound levels that don't kill all your power.
For the intake the GYT-R filter & adapter or K&N proflow kits are hard to beat. 50 plus RWHP can be easily had with the above combo

I am currently using a DMC Afterburner full system K&N filter kit and Vortex CDI. I wouldnt reccomend running a pipe without a modified CDI as the engine will run to lean and you will develop overheating issues. I have found my setup works well but I believe most brands would suit. Good luck.

I believe Trinity or LTE is the best exhaust on the market for the 700. Trinity offers a leagal sillencer and sparky that installs or removes quickly.
Trinity's EFI is plug and play ready (no laptop needed) and has a full range of fuel curve programing that's very easy. If you've got time and a handy laptop the powercomander lll is the way to fly, because it's the most versatile out there!
