#1
My warranty is running out this month and polaris has been hounding me for the extended warranty. Is the warranty worth it? Has anyone used thier extented warranty and was there any run around from polaris? Thanks for all your comments in advance.

Well I can tell you one thing for sure is that on average it will not be worth it. Once in a while someone will be further ahead having bought it but who's kidding who, if they weren't making a pile of money off of the extended warranties they wouldn't be pushing it so hard. Put the $700 aside and spend it on preventive maintenance and an annual service check-up and you will likely be much further ahead. I know that in the household appliance industry, salesfolks make more commission off of signing you up for an extended warranty than they do for the sale of the appliance (or at least it used to be that way)

The extended warr. does not cover too much. You would be surprized to see just how little they cover. Ex. rad, fan, tierods and cv joints etc. The only thing for sure that they cover it trans and engine and diff.

Thanks guys!!! I think i have decided to just save the money and cross my fingers. My old honda big red ran for 24 years and never was in the shop. The last 10 years my brother had it and never changed the oil. Hopefully a well serviced polaris can last like that.

I am about to find out. My quad just developed a pulsating vibration at idle and both the front headlight housings broke and fell out at the same time. I know, I know the headlights sound wierd, at the same time? If I was not there, I would have a hard time believing it too.

There are a couple different extended warrantees out there. The one Polaris offers (underwritten by GE) seems to be the best and is honored by all Polaris dealers. For me it’s well worth the money but I put over 2000 miles a year on my trail machines. Everything I’ve ever broken or worn out has been covered. We’re talking CVs, tie rod ends, ball joints, suspension bushings, strut inserts……… The warranty makes a good resale tool or you can get your money back out of it, prorated for the time you have remaining.
Those who don’t put many miles on or ride as hard as we do may not find as much value in the extended warranty but every one I’ve ever had has paid for itself.

To many times (not just Polaris) Dealers wont honor warranties when they probably should. Reason being, Warranty work doesnt pay as much as they can charge you! Most companies have a price list of what they will pay for warranty work to the dealers. Usually its significantly lower than what they could normally charge you and I!

I bought mine for $728.00 for 4 years and no duductable, search this form and see how speedos in the headlight pod have gone out alone. With EFI thers more sensors and parts to go wrong. And also you all know how it works, no warranty and you will need it, if you have the warrant you wont!
