Would have been funnier if it wasn't me!

Now I know why there is a rev limiter in reverse...

I just put the RCR stage one kit on my 400 Scrambler, and since I ride a high altitudes and varying (cold) temperatures, I took it to my dirt bike mechanic (racing guy)to have it jetted perfectly after I installed everything.
I'm out back of his shop getting ready to load it up, and the mechanic asks if I need any help. No, my son and I can handle it I say. Luckily he goes back inside. I'm standing up so that I can make sure the front tires stay lined up on the ramps into the trailer. They're not quite straight, so I put it into reverse, hit the override button, and the throttle. The next thing I know (faster than I can figure out what's happening), my face is about 12 inches from the pavement, my feet are in the air, and my 14 year old son is laughing his head off. Luckily, I kept a firm grip on the bars or it would have hurt a whole lot. The new clutch spring and a LOT more power still gave me a big smile even though I felt like an idiot. Can't wait to take it riding tomorrow...

Hehehe, thanks for sharing that one. I’ll bet a higher clutch engagement and a low gear like reverse could surprise just about anyone. Glad you weren’t hurt (physically) I wouldn’t loan that out to anyone without a warning.

I've done about the same thing before...there was one real nice one where I thought it was in forward but it wasn't...Ridin' Buddies thought it was real funny.

The clutch spring was the "plain spring" from HPD, which is supposedly between the stock white spring and the green spring.
