03 prairie 650 has no power
#1
i just bought a used 03 650 prairie and it has no power. it is extremely slow will not get over 35 mph. if i remove the air cleaner lid the engine will stumble and sometimes backfire. i rode the thing around in the guys yard before I bought it and everything seemed fine. i didn't try to stretch its legs, and now i am in disbelief of its lack of power. do any of you guys have any idea?

im asuming that its 35mph in high gear.
because thats about what it will do in low but in high it should do about 60mph.
i would clean the filter and check the plugs and see how they look maybe even change them.
and like blacknight said set the valves.
how many miles are on it.

that was in high gear and has about 960 miles. i pulled the plug of the front cylinder, because it was not firing. there is no fire to that plug. i was told it had a new ignition box, but i am an idiot when it comes to electrical and wiring. i dropped it off at the local powersports place, and the guy there is really sharp. maybe it won't be too big of a problem. thanks for all the help!
