Default more power for raptor 50?

I am new to the atv world. Just bought a 2006 Raptor 50cc for my 6 year old son. While it is sufficient speed for the flats, I live on 4 acres where there are a lot of inclines and uphills that the raptor has trouble getting power to climb. I bought the 50cc model because it is a automatic and i figured it would be the easiest way for him to learn to ride. What can I do to provide more power where the bike can climb inclines much easier and quicker? Any opinions are much appreciated, thanks!

all right one if you do a search in the kids atv section you will see a long list of thread dealing with this and yes there is lots of ways to get way more power out the 50 cc rig one you can buy a pipe two a cdi box three k and n filter jet the carb cut the slider in the carb and grind the thumb throttle pltae so it opens all the way plus get a widing kit fornt and back plus you can throw on a set of mini bars that make it turn better instead of the ape hangers that are on it stock last but not least get in touch with al at rapto 80 racing .com this guy will have your kids raptor scraing him in a fun way good luck and p.s. i did every thing to my sons quad over time and now every time we go out riding with out fail some body wnats to know what we did to the little 50 to make it runs so good .

Agreed.
I was really disappointed in the 50 Raptor we got for the kids.

I ended up doing almost everything in that long thread in the kids atv section. Cutting the carburetor slide and then grinding the throttle stop was the first thing, which made only a small difference since the stock CDI limits the RPM by so much. I then went to RMstator.com and purchased a new CDI for the raptor and wow what a difference. It went from stock speed, which was around 11-13 mph (slow enough it would not even register on my radar) to around 22 mph by radar.

It now has enough power for the kids to climb very respectable hills, throw lots of mud and do donuts till they are ready to puke. Not to mention that the little 50 sounds wicked screaming along
