Engine braking 06 450 sportsman ???
#1
Greetings from a newbie! Quick question. I have just bought a Polaris 450 sportsman.
It didn't come w/ebs. My dealer has offered to install it for me. Should I have it installed?
Should I leave it the way it is? Also any recommendations for front and rear bumpers (besides
the pure polaris models) Thanks! btw 1st polaris, formerly a yamaha rider.

I have two 450 sportsmans I also ask the dealer about EBS I never drove one before with it and told him that ......so his reply was simple......He told me I don't need it!!!!!And I believe him .....The 450 slows down enough when you let off the gas anyway!!!!If you never had it before I guess I will not miss it!!!!!!!!!I am happy the way they are right now and not going to add EBS....That's my two cents worth....Bye for now.........caper.

I like it also. my 700 is my first quad and I could not ride without it. I also like the Polaris front bushguard and the rear v tube bumper the best.

I had it on the 350 bruin, thought it was usefull where I ride. Didn't know if the
sportsman was going to "freewheel" downhill without it. I wonder why they put it
on all the others and not the 450?

The 06 500HO Carb didn't get it either.
I'm mixed about the ebs myself .. it is useful enough for just coasting to a stop and not having to use brakes, but going down hills and such I find it more of a nuisance than a help. I could definitely do without it, but, it does have its purpose.

Not sure about the pre-wiring, though I believe they are ..
EBS as far as I know doesn't affect accelleration/top speed as it's only active during deceleration with your thumb off the throttle completely .. any gas to it at all and it's not activated .. pretty much the same as the AWD only sort of in reverse .. AWD is only active if there's a difference in spin bewteen front and rear
