Default Cermaic coating the 800 pipe for SP700

Any one who runs a sportsman that newer than an 04 knows about the heat issues on the rt side so I'm wondering if any one's bothered to do any before and after coating temp measurements becasue I don't want to waist the time and money coating the pipes if an insulating wrap will get the job done. I just got my 800 pipe and whitebros can and I want to get it installed ASAP. I don't want to rush into to getting the part on and continue to get a chapped butt on hot days. If you coated your pipe with a heat barrier what did you use and about hom much did it $$$. Thanks.

No temps for ya, but here's how it goes:
Coating works, (some) and looks pretty.
Wrap works WAY better, but some say it's ugly.

We'll I like the idea of not have any of the maintenace that you incur with the wrap but the kit at autozone is only 40 bucks and the cermaic coating is between 50 and 80 bucks with a life time peeling waranty. I put some for the wrap on my China bike becasue it has a hand p brake and my son kept burning his hand so I had to keep things cool enough to touch. On the coatings I was thinking of doing both inside and out. I was told that that would keep the exterior of the pipe cool enought to touch while running. If the wrap does the same thing it a dead wash becasue I can do the wrap at home tommrow and get the pipe mounted.

We have the barrier heat coating inside and out on the pipes of a race car and there is no way in he!! that you are going to put your hand on the pipe while running.
With the wrap? Well maybe for a second or two but that's about it. EGT is over 1400F and that is a bunch to touch for any coating or wrap.
I have a wrap on a turbo cross over pipe for about 10 years on a street car. No problems. I guess a quad would see a lot more mud than my street car but that's about it.
For the kids, I would go with the wrap for sure.
PS: If you can get a pipe done for 50 bones; that's dirt cheap!!!!!!!!!

Dr T you and I have something in common. I run a turbo diesel and that new high temp coatings are the rage at helping keep the heat in to get faster turbo spool up. Well I guess I'll do both. Once I get the price and look into the quailty of there work I'll post the link. I'll just say it a place in Nebraska so the overhead is low and it's a small shop. 4 guys run it.
