The whole in the cylinder right where the carb pipe bolts on. Is this for a vacuum line? Does it connect to to pet-**** for the on position?

i have an 85 lt50 and mine has no vacum lines on the carb, there just overflows. you have 2 ports coming of your petcock valve one goes to theintake manifold the other goes to the carb. i guess with out the vacum hooked up to the manifoldyou wont get any gas to the carb in the on postion. hope that helps you out

The carb has 2 over flow/vent lines, one on the RT side and one on top. The vac fitting your talking about is the over flow/vent line for the top.

Thats what I thought! (with the two breather and overflow lines) I can not find a shop manual for this bike, and when I looked up the micro-fiche it said that top hose (not the fuel supply) was a vacuum hose.
The problem that i'm having is I got the bike running now, But it will only stay running if I am manually spraying fuel into the carb, or if I and blowing on the top breather line just a little bit. I have a good knowledge of carburators and had it completly apart several times to clean it and make sure all that it good. I baught this carb brand new off of e-bay and it came in a suzuki box. Is it possible I got a bad carb out of the box!!! Has anyone else ever had this problem? My son's birthday is on thursday (13th) it doesn't look like i'm going to make the deadline!!! Please help. Thanks.

I bought the same carb last week on e-bay(from P-cola). Mine ran fine for a few days then just would not run good at all. I moved the clip on the guide needle down one notch. I runs great now. I also had to clean out the petcock (valve on bottom of gas tank) it clogged. I have read on this site that the exhaust will clog up & the quad will not run right. Do a search on this site under "kids quads" for LT50 & you will find alot of good info.

How do you clean out the exhaust system?

I took off the exhaust manifold, stood the quad on it back side, then pulled the pull string until the piston was blocking the exhaust port, used a scribe to get all the carbon out then put it on all 4's & sprayed carb cleaner in the exhaust port till it was clean. It might take a few times to get it all out.
Now to the exhaust pipe there is a bolt on the bottom of the muffler I removed it & ran a piece of wire around in it, from the hole where I removed the bolt & in the front & rear of the pipe. You can also spray the carb cleaner in the pipe. I used the cheap stuff from Wal-Mart, it cost about 97 cents a can. It’s great for cleaning all kinds of greasy parts, but be careful not to get it in your eyes. Hope this helps
