Default Question about K&N filters

a K&N flows alot more air than a Uni will, of course with that it flows more harmfull particles into the motor. if your in a dusty or sandy environment a Uni will be more suited to you. also if you dunk your quad and you have a K&N you need to let it dry out before you can take off, whereas a uni you and wring it out and start her back up again.

i myself prefer the round surgical cotton design of the K&N, it seems superior. i run one off the carburator throat on my predator, works wonders.

Default Question about K&N filters

The K&N on my wolverine works great, no problems. I haven't had to clean it yet, but I keep a K&N pre-filter over it that catched a lot. Where I ride it gets really dusty when it's been dry, so after every ride I wash the pre-filter real good (it clogs up with fine dust fairly quickly) and clean any loose dirt/dust out of the airbox. While the pre-filter dries, I also take out the filter and check the carb air intake for dust, but have never found much of anything. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with K&N.

Default Question about K&N filters

article here

Im sure weve all seen this article for the foam vs k&N filter. True ...its conducted by the people at amsoil, but they say the twin air and uni are just as good as theirs. The point is, the foam filter is by far the best for trapping grit, and FILTERING the incoming air, and the k&N allow the most (take your pick here...air or grit), to go thru.

Depends on what youre after...if you want long term results, or short term gain.

Everybody claims their product is better. Used an Amsoil filter before, too. Cheaply constructed. Sheesh, go cut out a friggin sponge. Liked it so well, I never bought another.

Default Question about K&N filters

as long as u dont ride in sand or extreme dust u will probably be okay with a K&N, ive heard of people running k&n filters and having a outerwear and rebuilding their engine from all the dust, so i am sticking with a foam filter.
