I was wandering what you fellow raptor riders are using on the dunes. I have one on order that should arrive in december. I am currently riding a 2000 warrior with some sand sharks on it. I am not too pleased with these cheaper tires though. I am thinking about either some sand skate II or the edge, both in a 20x11x10 size with 8 paddles. any advice would be helpful. I have a friend that rides a ds650 with edge tires and they seem to be an aggressive tire. Only wanting the best tires for the best bike.

 

There was a identical topic in the dune section..... but I will tell you what I have currently. I am running 20x10x10 9 paddle haulers on douglas .160's and trackers on the front. If I had it to do over again I would go with 8's not 9's. The machine pulls them fine.... its just alot of paddle. I have pics on my site below of me racing a 310r. They are a blast in the sand!!

 

I took Predators advice and set the bike up on 8 paddle Scat Traks. Rode Dumont last week and the wife climbed anything she pointed the Raptor at.

 

Is there any reason you went with straight blade haulers instead of v-groove tires? With the haulers do you lose much with regards to turning ability? do you think that there is a big difference in drag racing with the two tires? Also i was wondering if you or someone else knew of any differnce between 8" or 10" rims when mounted with the same tire? (ie: 20x10x10 or 20x10x8)(other than a lower profile looking tire.)

 

I tried Sand Skate II on mine first and I didn't care for them due to width being to narrow and they don't float as well and they tend to bury themselves on steep hillclimbs.

Haulers are great for hillclimbs and straightline racing and playing and I have a set of these. But I have settled on Sand Skate I which are wider and slightly taller and they handle great and climb real good to. I also have mine shaved to lighten about 3+ pounds a piece.

But it is really dependent on your riding style!

I have skat track haulers 22x10x10 8 paddle, on mine with 21" gmb razors on front. If there is such a thing as too much paddle, ive got it. they put all of the hp. on the ground, and your family jewels on the gas cap. but im about to get my lonestar swing arm,and that should solve the wheelie prob. the cool thing is watching the banshees fall behind at the start line. Id go with 21s or 20" haulers if you want them to spin.

Whass-up!! Get the EDGE because I've heard the Raptor is a little tipsy on turning hard. So I think you would want a tire that allows you to turn easily. 4-strokes forever for whatever you ride!! See you at work!! HA! HA!
