Just purchased an 06 Brute Force 650i and noticed that there is a two-piece plastic shroud (?) around the gas tank that has a big gap just waiting to catch mud, water, dirt with no way to clean it out easily.

I'm looking for suggestions as to sealing it up and have thought about filling it with foam or sealing it with duct tape. Any ideas?

There is a drain hole directly behind the tailight. Some people have enlarged it to allow quicker draining when cleaning. I was thinking of getting some round weather stripping and filling it in myself to avoid the hassle of cleaning it out.
