Scrambler 500

I might be picking one up tomorrow's. Never thought I would consider a Polaris everyone I talk to says I'm crazy for considering one. But the scrambler seems perfect for me so I'm dead set on it. But when you here so much trash talking you begin to worry. Anyway I haven't seen heard or read that scrammys had any known major problems and are as old as ATVs come. What is you alls opinions on there reliability regular maintenance dose not scare me Ive been a mechanic my whole life i just don't want it falling apart on me all the time.

The Scrambler 500 is a great quad. its fast and its a 4x4. as far as reliability, polaris has really cleaned up since the early years and the 500 engine has been out for nearly a decade, so its proven it self thoughout the years. i say go for the scrammy you wont regret it.

Did my first ride today in dunes, hill climbing and some mudd. Did great in all put it in AWD and the steep sandy hill climbs were easy.
rough trails beat me up bad though but I figured it would its a heavy sucker. Cant wiat to try some really rough trails.

My Father has had three Scramblers, two 400cc 2-strokes and a 500cc HO....
All three were very reliable and took a beating....... they don't handle like the smaller sport machines but then again they are 4x4 so they shine in the woods and rough stuff..... good luck with it..

la90043 you might try to find a good used 2003 or older. They have the adjustable fox shock on rear. If i could only have one quad it would be a scrambler, because I like to ride in a variety of conditions. The scrambler is kind of a jack of all trades, master of none. Sportier than a utility, but still has AWD. Of all my quads I work on the Scrambler the least. The 250r though is still my primary ride.
