Banshee Owner IMPRESSED by the Raptor
#1
I was racing a new Raptr this last week at the Gecko road sand drags (Glamis) and I must say I am VERY impressed with its performance! He got the hole-shot everytime and always lead through 4th gear, where I would catch and then pass him. But it took four gears and my machine is not stock, while his was. VERY IMPRESSIVE. You Raptor owners have something to be proud of. I may be one soon myself.

To most people, it probably seems that Raptor riders are full of hot air when talking about performance and handling. It's nice to hear from non-Raptor riders posting a good word about the Raptor. Save the green stuff....keep the nice modded Banshee and get a Raptor also!

I actually beat a Banshee that was modified. Cool head, boost bottle, FMF Fatty pipes w/silencers and other items and i beat him several times. I must say that i am used to riding 250rs and had no idea that the raptor was this fast!! The only mod i have made is a white bros pipe.

Well I own a Banshee and I was impressed with the Raptor. My bike has pipes, filter, and a cool head, and my buddy's "stock" Raptor was right there with it. A couple reason's though I would never trade my shee in for it. One, is the Banshee just feels faster because of its 2 stroke hit 2, it seems like is sits a little high for me, and 3 the hop up potential for a Banshee is only limited by the amount of money you want to spend. Just my 2 cents worth. Later.

The Raptor is a good machine, no doubt. My friends and I all rode 400EX's this summer(I just sold mine about three weeks ago and got a 2000 Warrior, bad move)and one of my buddies did the 440 kit. The raptor and the 440 are pretty close, in fact they are dead even until the raptor overtakes it in 4th in a drag on hard pack gravel. This is repeatable with different riders. I wouldn't mind owning a Raptor next summer, to be honest. Does anyone actually ride their Raptor hard? Are they reliable under abuse? I'd like to know for real before I buy one.

RooostKing,
Thanks for taking the time to post your impression. It's great to have unbiased folks come on here and give a detailed report instead of us Raptor owners on here tooting our own horn.
Also, I'll agree with the other report in this thread. Yes, the Banshee feels faster in a drag because of the 2-stroke hit. In the woods, the Raptor actually feels faster because the power is on tap immediately and there's no lag waiting for the power to hit. It's really just a toss up depending on the terrain and riding that you do.
What I'm wondering is what a CT Racing 50-HP Raptor is going to be like and what kind of mods will be required for a Banshee to keep up or beat it.

I've been beating the hell out of my raptor. The only problem I've had is I rolled it on it's side once. But I figure if you're not crashing, you're not riding hard enough.
The only other minor inconveniences have been when a friend killed the motor hard (cold out, just started it, and gave it hell) and the carbs popped out of the boots, and I had my choke cable come disconnected at the lever. But again, it was cold as hell up here in MN, and I think I had some water in the cable... Easy fix, though.
BTW . . . The raptor is AWESOME for snowdrift pounding! My banshee just got highsided all the time!
