Default New 2007 Rancher...IRS???

Got this latest Buzz yesterday.....

2007 Rancher is rumored to have an all new chasiss with IRS and selectable 4WD.

Engine is rumored to the same 350 and 400 engine designs as before with the exception of a new combustion chamber design similar to the one used on the 500 Foreman models.

Just gossip from a Honda tech instructor on what is being stirred in the rumor mill inside company headquarters.

I just found it interesting and decided to post it to see if anyone else had heard similar stories from their dealers or sales reps yet.

Disclaimer: (seems that I always need one or I will catch hell if I dont).... I am NOT saying this WILL be at the show in September.

The Rancher is left off the early release for Honda isn't it? Sounds Plausable to me.

Thanks for the info knowsalot.

If it rides as nice as the Rincon, I might have to get one.

I sure hope that honda is just changing the rancher and not dropping it like many are saying. That is such a dumb move on their part if they drop a great seller and great all around atv like the rancher. Im keeping my fingers crossed.

they should have added selectable 4WD since they started making ranchers...not just because i have one but they would have become even more popular

No, they will not be dropping the Rancher off the lineup! Do i have solid facts to prove this? No. BUT common sense tells me NO ONE would drop their best selling vehicle. So thats not gonna happen. Giving it optional IRS and selectable 2WD/4WD is a GREAT move by Honda! If they could only give the Foreman's Optional IRS!

ughh... I never liked IRS on my quads. They squat funny when pulling stuff and it's more parts to wear out, and it's just a weaker setup... The advantage is better riding and more ground clearance, but i'll take my SRA any day.

I would like to know about the combustion chamber changes, and if it's possible to upgrade the existing 350 with this new design. Probably not, it's a shot in the dark, but the current 350 is a little low on power at times and anything to beef up the power is nice.

quicksilver,

I am with you on the solid axle preference.

As for the cylinder heads swapping with the older engines, no one will know that until this newest engine is produced.....and IF it does indeed exist.

I would like to see them turn the whole Rancher lineup into lightweight hybrid sport 4wd machines to compete with the Wolverine (which is selling VERY well from what I am seeing out on the trail!). But, Honda is usually very conservative, so I'm not holding my breath on that one.

At minimum, I would like to see selectable 2wd/4wd and the 400 engine in everything. Then you just select your transmission preference: foot shift, ES, or automatic.

I hope you're not talking about the Rancher 400 AT Engine??? Its known for being extremely sluggish. I've driven the AT and 350 Ranchers' plenty of times and i honestly think the 350's have more power. Its all in the gearing. The AT has that Rincon transmission which sucks. So if they're bumping it up in CC's i dont know if the 400 AT engine is the way to go.
