Warrior/Wolv Edelbrock Question
#1
Finished up the install of the Edelbrock on my Wolv. Initial runs are very positive, still adjusting.
This carb requires substantially more throttle cable to be pulled, from idle position to full throttle, as compare to the stock carb. After a lot of grinding on the handle bar throttle assy, I was able to get a full pull. But, in order to get the carb to open up all the way, the thumb lever ends up way up under the handle bars, almost in front of the handle bars. This full throttle position has a very awkward feel.
Does anyone know if there is a throttle assy off of another model that pulls more cable in a normal thumb lever throw?

Maybe the wolverine's thumb throttle has a different pull ratio? On my warrior the throttle travel is still very reasonable after installing the carb. It's a slightly longer push to get it to full throttle, but it isn't uncomfortable or awkward at all. At the most the range of motion increased by about a centimeter at the end of the lever. I'd try getting a used throttle assembly for a warrior and trying that first, or if you want, you could also experiment with one from a bigger bike like a raptor or yfz.

Recon99...will you do me a favor when you get a chance? Pop the cover off your thumb throttle assy and measure the amount of cable you are pulling from idle to full throttle.
Would one of you guys with a Raptor and/or YFZ be willing to measure their cable pull too?
I've looked at the drawings on Yamaha's site and the Warrior one looks the same and the middle set of numbers is also the same in the part no. I don't know if that means anything or not. The YFZ throttle assy doesn't even show any replaceable parts, so I can't tell anything there. The Raptor throttle looks similar to the Warrior/Wolv, but like you said, the pull ratio may be different.
I'm still in the tuning stages with this carb. I have an oxygen sensor/meter and the factory settings were a bit rich, even on my 446. I've gone about 4 clicks Lean and I think I'm close. It really seems to pull hard, but can't get a good 4th/5th gear full throttle pull in the Sub Div. Can't hit the main road, since I don't believe the Cops will be as "understanding" next time. Haven't had to mess with the accel pump adjustment either, I can't detect any bog at all with the factory adjustment. You know I'll have to mess with it too though!

Recon...If the wheel on the Edelbrock, which the cable wraps around, has been decreased in size on my newer model, it would take less cable to accomplish WOT. I know it's a long shot, but you never know.

One more try for one of you YFZ and Raptor guys, working on your quads this weekend, to measure the amount of cable your throttles are pulling from idle position to full throttle.
I could really use your help!
Thanks.
