I recently put new brushes on the starter. Spins great now, but does not turn over engine. I pulled the side cover off to see what the starter engages to. It turns a small gear that is probably about 2" diameter. That gear then drives a large gear that is behind what looks like the stator assembly. The large gear is the same diameter as the stator (if that is what it is called). I started to pull the assembly but it will take a allen socket drive that I can't find and a puller. The question I have is about the large gear. It does not appear to match what I find in the service manual. I assumed it was something like a starter clutch, but the starter clutch in my manual does not have gear teeth around the entire circumference of the gear. Any ideas?
