brute 750 oil cooler ??????
#1
When i installed my oil cooler i mounted it infront of the radiator, The cooler is 14"by7" and blocks the lower 1/2+ of the radiator, I was concerned and wondered if anyone thinks this will cause the radiator to stay hotter than it should. I have my bike compltey stripped down now sending the exhaust off to get ceramic coated and have been looking at other places to mount.
What do you think should i relocate or not
thanks

I would like to know so I will keep an eye on this thread. I have had some advice on oil coolers but didn't say where to mount.
While you have it striped maybe a good time to flush and fill radiator with Engine ICE.
I know it has helped my BF so far run cooler. Or least the temp icon didn't flash me during 114 degreeIcan'tbelieveweareouthere heat. ENGINE ICE good stuff I hear.

i think that is the best place for the cooler unless you set it with it's own seperate fan. this is usually not needed. if you still need more air flow, consider an automotive style fan. a 10" one fits the brute radiator pretty well. (around $70 or less)
go over to Highlifter and look at Suzukitrash's set-up. mine is very similar, except he has documented his installation with pics/part numbers very well. we both have the big fan, and oil coolers, and temperature gauges, i believe.
i rigged my automotive fan as a pusher fan, left the stock fan in place for back-up, and installed the oil cooler in front of the pusher fan, so the air gets pulled through the oil cooler and pushed through the radiator. this works ok, but on a long climb on a hot day it still gets hot. not enough to boil over to trigger the idiot light, but hot on the gauge (up to 235*). at this point i will stop and let it idle to cool down. this usually just takes a minute.
it was also suggested to install a VDI or Dyna. these are supposed to help keep temps down.
anyway, KOD's site, Suzukitrash's page, and some of mike walker's threads on HL ought to help, too.

i would imagine that it is the best place for the oil cooler(in front of the radiator). like monty said, get some air flow from the fan. also try this website it has a lot of info.
