Default DS starts but will not run???????

Hi all, I just picked up an 01' DS 650 from a buddy of mine. The machine has been sitting for approx 2 years. I cleaned the carb and all jets, and installed new spark plugs etc. The quad will start up, but as soon as I let off the starter button it will not stay running. It is not getting any spark unless the button is held in. What is up with this? Bad CDI or something less expensive? Could it be corrosion somewhere? Please Help!

Thanks,
Jason

Test the battery, If it has sat that long with out a battery tender the battery may be shot. The DS's must have a good battery to run right.

Yes is actually does start but then dies. The battery is junk. We were using a battery charger on it to get the machine to roll over. Thanks for the replies, guess I will go buy a new battery.

yes it needs a good battery to run even with the charger on it would do that but if you throw a new batt in it starts right up and runs like a champ because we had this problem before n went through thinking it was more than a battery

This is a common problem on a ds650 that has a bad battery, I aswell had the problem with the same effects, and yes a new battery will fix it.
