Default BANSHEE FRONT BRAKE REPAIR Q?

Well, i just recently got my shee out of the shop to get some fine tuning done to her. When I picked her up the shop showed me my front brakes no longer work. He said he noticed it was leaking out a line and would be easy to fix but i wanted my baby back so i took her anyway. Now its time for me to learn to fix it. he siad its need bleeding and something tightened or something like that? when you mash the brakes they work a little bit but not enough to stop her when shee's haulin ***.
My question is how do i got about redoing the brakes. Bleeding and things like that? what steps do i need to take?

most of all what all will i need to do the job? brake fluid? how much? special anything?
Thanks Alot!

Yes, you will need brake fluid. Check your owners manual for wht type, or just check the top of the reservoir for ehat type. You don't need much, but should start out with a fresh bottle as this stuff can draw in water and then you will end up replacing with fresh fluid anyway. First thing you need to do is fix the leak. If it is just a fitting, maybe tightening it up will help. Once the leak is fixed, take the top off the reservoir and make sure it is full. Either get a bleed kit, a vacuum pump, or a buddy. If you get a bleed kit, either with a vacuum pump or not, just follow the manufacturers instructions. If using a buddy, put a hose onto the bleed nipple at the caliper. The nipple looks like a grease zerk, and is pointing upwards. Place the other end of the hose into a container of some sort. Find the right size wrench to open/close the nipple. with the nipple closed off, pump the front brake lever a few times and hold it in. Have your help open the nipple and bleed off any built up pressure, then close it again. Only AFTER the nipple is closed off can you let go of the brake lever. This is important as it keeps the system from sucking air back in at the nipple. Repeat the process as many times as needed until you get only clean fluid out, and there are no more air bubbles coming out. Since the reservoir is quite small on these things, make sure you keep it filled during this process. Once the lines are bleed out, make sure the nipple is tightened back up, replace the nipple cover, top off the reservoir one last time and replace the cover. Good luck!

If your leak is just a fitting you simply tighten the fitting so it stops leaking. To bleed the air out of the lines, take a clear hose that fits tight around the bleed nipple on the brake caliper then place it into a jar thats 3/4's filled with brake fluid. then pump your brake lever till you don't see any air come out of the clear line. Before you let go of the brake lever tighten the nipple. You can see the air bubbling up from the fluid. Once there is no air bubbles go to the other side and repeat. Don't forget to hold the lever as if you are applying brakes before you tighten the bleed nipple. All done, simple huh.

Default BANSHEE FRONT BRAKE REPAIR Q?

Well, I got everything needed for the job. FIrst I found the leak. Thats my first problem I come to and Im not sure how to stop it. It is located right under the handlebars and just behind the radiator. Where exactly its leaking is where the metal tube? should i say or pipe? I donno but where that thing goes into a little nut thing with threads on the outside of it and a head for like about a 10m wrench to fit it. Now, the metal tube, goes though the middle of it and it is leaking between the tube and that nut thing.

Im not sure how to fix that without breaking something like always so if some could help me out and tell me how in the world to fix my problem Id appreciate it. Maybe just tightening it would work? Also, the hollow wire? maybe is a little loose going into that bolt thing.

Thanks!

remove the radiator and tighten the nuts to the distribution block. I would remove the radiator or place a piece of cardboard up against it so you don't damage it. You can go to

http://www.ronniesmailorder.com/fich...=368&year=2000

copy and paste the above to your browser. Click on the master cylinder link. The part may be #10, the upper brake line. It looks to be attached to the block. Good luck.
