`02 Grizzly headlight problem...
#1
My new-to-me Griz came with the some jake-legged aftermarket lights which I finally got around to removing.
Did some searching in the archives here and found out about the common problem with bulbs desoldering from the ring mount.
Sure enough, the bulbs were still in the lens housing. Tried everything to get them out. Vacuum cleaner in the shop did the job in a couple minutes.
Put brand new Yamaha bulbs in ($11 ea) and the darn things work, but they are messed up.
The right hand light only works on Low Beam, while the left one works on High Beam.
They will both come on if the switch is stuck in between HI/LOW.
On one archive thread, a guy said "take the switch apart and make sure the contacts line up correctly".
Anybody ever do that?
The machine is really great.
Sure wish my lights worked.
thanks

first try to swap sides w/ the lights and see if it's the opposite. (eliminate bulb issues) then check the connectors themselves to see if they're dirty... next option is to fetch a volt meter and check to see if you're getting power on both low and high to both sides...

Aklester, Most likely you'll need to replace both bulb sockets to fix the problem. The original sockets melt from the heat of the bulb. Some people say the hi-lo switch gets in a position when both beams are on and this melts the socket. This can happen but not very likely. Good Luck!!
