Default Selling modded DS's??

Recently in our local paper a guy had a DS that he was asking $9K for, had a long list of mod's....I noticed last week it reappeared for $6700....Saw the same thing on E-bay, guy had a DS loaded with mods, he was only asking $5700 but claimed over $9k invested.

IMO all those mod's might scare off potential buyers.

Kind of mixed feelings about it. My plan is to keep the Rincon as a backup/2nd rider quad and get a new Outlander 650. It's not that I don't like the DS, the power is awsome but I spend most of my time on the utility now and it really suits my riding needs better. I have a few lady friends who like to ride from time to time and the Rincon is tame enough for them to handle with no problems so it will make a nice backup.

Selling modified DS's or any other quad for that matter isn't easy. Have to find the right person that is looking for a modified bike AND understands the value of the modifications you've done. . . most of those people have a modified bike already!

IMO, the modified DS that will hold its value more than any will be the street-bike conversions. Get a guy to the dunes on one of them and let them see the power and. . . Oh Boy. . .

I think the BombBusa set-up will be the one that has the best return for a while. SICK power in a chassis that can take it. Don't think they are worth the $15k people are spending on them but, there are people out there with money that want that kind of power and speed. They are willing to pay for it.

If you had the skills and the extra time you could probably make a living doing these conversions. I know Gregg in our area has done a few but, sounds like he's grown tired of all the work. . . can't blame him. I'ld also tell you, if you were going to put in all those hours, you may as well build a Sandrail from someone elses roller and sell it. You'ld make more money selling Tom Pro rails complete than you would selling BombBusa's. . . so, it would have to be a labor of love.

Anyways, don't plan on selling a bike or anything else for what you've put into it.

The ones that get me are when a guys trys to sell a used bike like a Raptor with Nerf bars and sand stars and asks $8k when I can get a new stock one for $7200 OTD. There are so many people that think they can recover their taxes paid as well as any accessories they bought at 100% value? I just don't get it. Why waste your time if you are serious about selling great but, if you got the shaft when you bought your rig don't expect someone else to take the shaft when they buy from you.

last year I bought 3 ds's. a CHERRY! completely stock 03 baja for $3600, a cherry 2000 which had sat indoors , unused since 2001 with a rod knock for $1700 and a brand spanking new , still crated 2003 in red for $4000. it really depends on who's looking and when you list it. the prices seem to go up just before a major holiday weekend

When buying a toy, the more close to stock the easier the sale, lets face it, you dont wanna buy someones head
ache, hate to say it as I own a quad, I look for extra motor parts to but the bike close to stock to sell it if needed or just to have a second motor J/I/C I got lucky on my DS 2001 was bought 2 years ago, was 2500 and 480 shipping, E bay is Great but be CAREFUL lots of shady folks out there looken to take your bucks.

raider I tried selling my ds on ebay I had the reserve at like 4500 and it ended up that I lowered it to like 3500 and the highest my quad got was maybe 2000 and right when i put mine on there are never alot of ds's on ebay and all the sudden 15 popped up so the cheaper and not as nice quads selled and got bids and mine got jack so you might want to reconsider or try it and if it doesnt work try selling it yourself
