I have never owned a 4 wheeler before but am looking at buying one. My old 4X4 truck for hunting is getting to be too much to keep up!

I found a 1999 Big Bear 2x4 350 for $1400. I haven't looked at it yet but the owner says it needs some brake work but is in good condition otherwise.

I am needing it for light duty. Getting to and from deer stands in the mud with mostly gentle terrain.

What price should I be able to get this for? How big a deal is it to get the brakes of on of these machines worked on? What should I look at when I go to inspect and ride?

Keep in mind that I am mostly ignorant about these machines. Thanks for any help and suggestions.
