Default Clip For Idle Screw on Carburetor-500 Sportsman

Have only 60 hours on an 05 500 Sportsman and TWO times the clip that holds the flexable idle screw adjustment that hangs down from one of the corner screws of the carburetor bowl has snapped off. Upon the clip breaking, the idle screw then falls and lays upon the top of the engine below the carburetor. After the second time, I have it held up with plastic wire ties, so it isn't laying on the engine, but any ideas on why or how to correct?

Does not appear as if anything is hitting the clip and it does not appear to have excessive vibration. Has any one had the problem with this clip for the idle screw breaking?
