Default 06 Rancher 400AT Owners Power ? Angle sensor?

I am thinking of buying this quad for my wife. This will be my first Honda ATV purchase{polaris before with no problems}. We like the size of this machine and the low center of gravity, along with the engine braking. After reading what reviews and info I can find the{power} of this unit along with the{angle sensor} are my 2 most concerns. It seems there were more problems with the angle sensor in earlier models. As far as the power my wife will not be a speed demon, but she is aroung 180 pds. and I want her to be able to climb hills well. Please advise to your own feelings about this quad. Thanks for your input.

the 400at also had clutch problems. My friend had 400 km on his and had to replace his clutch. It was never right from day one. He had to plead with his dealer to get honda to pay half the cost. Get a yamaha 450 kodiak. Lot more options.

I don't own a 400AT, but a friend that I ride with has one. 1000 miles and 0 problems. Seems to be a good recreational ATV. Pulling big hills in auto is no problem. Remember the 400At is not geared to be a heavy work quad, it's more of a trail quad. In tight trails it is hard to beat. It doesn't ride as good as Polaris, but it handles a lot better. Plus you don't have to worry about shifting to low range or high range to save your belt, it doesn't have one. Just put it in gear and push the throttle.

I have an 04 400 AT with 500 miles on it and only 1 problem. It had a recall for the tie rod ends which was covered by Honda. I use it for hunting and plowing snow and it has been a great machine for that. To me it seemed sluggish in AT mode around 15 mph so I took it back to the dealer thinking it was the whole angle sensor deal. Honda looked it over and it was fine, it turns out that it is just the way they are. They don't have the power of the larger quads and around 8-10 mph where it should be in low rpm 2nd gear it lugs a little before the motor can build up steam. Otherwise a great quad, if your not looking to go racing around or faster trail riding you will like it. Mine has the GPSescape and that is a really nice feature when you are out in the woods paving new trails...

I have been very impressed with my Rancher AT!!! It keep's getting stronger every time I ride it. I'm not a mudder though. I mostly ride trail's, some mud, if it's in the way!!! I love The Honda Rancher AT!!! Very comfortable machine!!!
