question for X2 owners....what is the reliability?

I think I want to get a 2006 X2. What has your experince been? Is it reliable? Have you gotten into 4 wheeling situations that you felt that the machine failed you due to design/engineering? I need a reliable machine to take far up in the woods for hunting....I don't want to get stranded.

I love mine. I have over 350 miles on it and it has been really useful for bear baiting. I start hunting Monday so maybe I can give you a report how it hauls big game. I have not had any issues with mine. I have not really taken it in serious mud just because it has been dry this year. I worry about it though with having small tires IMO compared to the heavy weight. No biggie if I do get stuck because I went with a Warn 3.0 winch. Maybe I am chicken because I was use to my 400Xplorer going through anything. The only thing I would worry about being stranded with it is if I left the key on and drained the battery.

I love mine as well. About thirty hours, and about 75 miles. The only issue has been the "infamous melting plastic due to the hot exhaust issue," but I just resolved that (hopefully for good...) by wrapping the ehaust pipe. I bought the X2 to replace several old tractors caring for my 11 acres, with the side benefit of having an ATV for deer season. Pulling a 42" Agri-Fab Rough Cut mower in the yard is made easy with "turf mode," and I'm looking forward to the EFI easy starts this winter pushing snow. I looked at the two-up Arctic Cat side-by-side with the X2, decided on the latter after starting, riding, reading the manuals, and browsing the forums.

I have an X2. We got it for the 2 up option. Can't haul much stuff in the bed when in 2up so I'm gonna get my wife her own wheeler then we can haul whatever we want. It has plenty of power but I would recommend getting some bigger tires. On one set of trails we ride, I always get stuck(high center). Other thanthat, it's great.

I just got back from Windrock yesterday, where I spent about 6 hours on riding every trail from moderate to extreme. This thing took everything I could throw at it. I even went into some pretty deep mud holes, and came out without a hitch. I did hit a couple of large rocks, on the bottom side. Upon checking it after cleaning, there was barely a scratch. I don't think the wife, or anyone else for that matter, would be 2 comfortable on the back of this thing on some of those trails I went on. For causual trail cruising with the wife, it's great.

Stock Tires are Carlisle AT489. Front size is 25x8-12 and the rear is 25x11-12.
