Sportman storage box question
#1
We flipped one of the 05 800's about two weeks ago and damaged multiple font end parts including the front storage box--ordered a new one and it came but the lower box is different. The removable radiator cover is now rubber sealed all the way around and does not have the bump for the fuses so now the box will not fit as the radiator cover hits the fuses and the old cover will not fit the new box. You cannot relocate the fuse block as the harness is too short. Did Polaris change all this and what do you do with the fuses??? Is there a new harness also?? Any of you with an 06 800 does the radiator cover have this bump???

eler8ion, my 06 800 (mfg. 9/05) does have the same box as yours w/ the space (bump) for the fuses as well. are sure they gave you the right box and not for another machine.

xler8ion, just an update for ya. i went out and checked my wifes 450 and it also has the space for the fuse box, but thats not where the fuse box is so maybe the new ones didnt come w/ the bump.

Stendori,
Thanks for the reply. On this new one which does have a different part number than the stock 05 in addition to no bump in the panel it does not have the removable two cones which expose the top of the shocks/struts. The panel is far better sealed so it appears that this box may be an upgrade that better prevents water and dust from entering the box. I checked the part numbers for the non-efi models too thinking those fuses make be unique to efi but the part numbers are all the same. If Polaris changed this you might think they would advise people of the fuse block interference and offer instructions or parts to move it. Where is that fuse block of your wife's 450 if you can tell????

Have an update on the storage box question I posed and it applies to all 05 and up spt from what I understand. The lower front storage box has been superceded with part # 2633377. This box has the sealed shock covers and the radiator cap door sealed with a new type of rubber that is far superior to the old setup, however, the dealer told me there are no notations or instructions as to what to do with the existing fuse block as the radiator cap door will not fit with it as is. If anyone works for a dealer or knows the answer as to what Polaris recommends to do with that fuse block I would like to know.
