TB running ok. then cutting out
#1
Hello, I'm new on here and glad to have found the site. my wife's 2000 tb runs good when first started for about 15 min. Then it starts cutting out. I've cleaned everything. any suggestions?
I've got the motor off now going to have new bearings put in(or do it myself). how does the clutch come off the crank?
thanks
john

you can buy a clutch puller for around 30 dollars witch is what i did or some guys on here can tell you how to make one with a 3/8 extinsion and i thinka threaded bolt maybe a 3/4. try doing a search for clutch

My 2002 did the same thing after my son decided it was a cool thing to do doughnuts in the gravel road for about a half hour straight. Yes he's still breathing. He overheated it and fried the top end. I bet you need a new top end as mine did exactly that but ours would run for about a half hour before cutting out. I had a mechanic fix it and he told me that the cylinder is designed to be bored 2 or 3 times and that mine hadn't been done yet so he went up to the next biggest size. I still got one or 2 more left in her. He's a Polaris mechanic who went out on his own. Cost me $490 bucks total but it runs great now. I'd have someone who knows Polaris bore it for you. Mine was sent out somewhere he knew about to be done. BTW my compression was down to about 75 he said. It wouldn't start at all anymore which is why I brought it to him. Brian

buy a polaris puller that fits the tb and take out center bolt of clutch and screw puller into the clutch to it bottoms out agaist crank. i use an impack wrench my self to pop it off. its pressed on the crank end.

DITTO on the compression.Ours was at 110psi cold but when it warmed up it would drop.Fresh topend runs like a champ again.
Get a clutch puller to get the clutch off.If you plan on keeping the bike it will be a tool you use more than you think you would. There are times it is faster and easier to pull the clutches and covers off to work on all sorts of things like starters and swingarm bolts.

theres a few on ebay for sleds. im not sure if any of them would fit your tb clutch you would have to check part numbers. i know the one that i had to do my sled also fit the t. blazer as i changed the spring in it.
