Default 2006 YFZ 450 TOP SPEED >>>76.3 mph

Just wanted to let anybody who cared to know about the top speed of an 06. This weekend I was out with 5 other yfz 450's that were all 04/05, I was the only one with an 06. Most of us all had the usual mods ( no lid, exhaust, jetting ) and we lined up several times on a flat dirt surface that was about a mile long. I won every race except for me missing a gear once. I must say that the new yfz's are a little quicker, not a lot but a noticable amount. While we were out there we met a state trooper who did us a favor and used his radar gun on me ( since I was the fastest quad that day ) and my first pass was 75.1, and my second pass the other way was 76.3. I have stock tires and gearing. Also one of the guys has a 06 Honda 450R with a pipe and he was about even with the 04/05 yfz's but he never beat or had me on top end. I thought I would run about 74 so It was about what I figured they would do. Very fun anyways.......

I dont think so, I think it would just get there quicker, the bike just hits its rev limiter

for every 100lbs,its equal to about 10 hp.i weight 235 so i give up some right from the start most times.

its called hp to weight ratio.its an estimate. heres another one, take your top speed and divide the # of the front sprocket teeth to get the approximate top speed change by changing front sprocket teeth.say 76 top on a 14 tooth is about 5.4 mi. so going down 1 tooth will get you there faster in a short race, but you will loose on top end.

power to weight isn't an estimate... it's a somewhat complex math equation

ok,lets do it like this. say a sport quad weights 400 lbs and has 40 hp. some have more and some have less hp, but at 40 hp. and 400 lbs its 10 hp for every 100 lbs. so if you out weight your buddy by 100 lbs then your giving up 10 hp, thats what i was getting at, but it could be more or less.just a estimate.
