Any new info on the SST frame faliures?

The reason i'm asking is cuz i'm one of the unfortunate people that have had a "frame failure", (due to a novice riders recklessness). I've read a few others and sounds like they all give/collapse in the same spot(at the rear attachment of the lower A arm). That's where mine got bent anyway, at about a 45deg angle. Now before i get slammed for the "failure" comment, i'd like to state that the accident my outty went trough would have destroyed any, if not all atvs. I understand, to a point, crumple zones, and failure areas, as places where things are supposed to break or bend during this kind of collision. The forces of gravity are sometimes catostrophic.
All I'm wanting to ask is, Has the "Frame integridy issue" been acknowledged by brp as an issue, and or do ya'll think it(weak frame in this area), is a bunch up crap? I'd like to believe it's the latter, but i've heard a few more stories about bent frames in the same area due to rocks, ruts and, well, collisions. I know if the frame doesn't give, something else is going to. I've got an opinion that it would be easier and more cost effective to replace A arms and steering components rather than the entire frame.
Do you think this is an issue only because of the crazy speed from the 800 and novice riders? I'm leaning that way due to the "stories" ive heard so far.
I'm still working on getting a new outty cuz it's fast as he!!. and i wouldn't have it any other way.
Any comments from the outty riders?

Sorry, I'm confused. . . you say the accident would have destroyed any ATV. . . but, you think there is an integrity issue that BRP needs to acknowledge?
Why not get a new frame and transfer the parts / pieces of your bent frame ATV? Are there too many other damaged / broken parts. . . it is a total loss?
Sorry to hear about your accident. If the frame was the only thing damaged you may have something to discuss with BRP but, if the ATV has other damages no mfgr. would step-up and tell you they had an issue.
I don't know about the SST but, the Bomb ATV's seem to be among the most solid built ATV's on the market. If you are paying by the pound, Bomb is the best deal on the market!

Duneme, i agree with you wholeheartedly. I should dissconnect my incident from the other "frame related stories". I am only comparing the "area" the failure occured to the other stories. Yes, the machine was a total loss. Although it doesn't look "destroyed", there were many bent/tweaked and or broken parts. The engine still ran, but it sounded rough after a few minutes. Just to replace the frame was going to cost thousands due to labor. A arms, steering, rear swing arm and some engine damage rendered it a total loss. unbelivably, no one was hurt.
Just wondered if any new info on frame strength or integridy had been discussed? And yes, i agree that the outty is worth the EXTRA cash. thanks for the reply.

My best freind was riding our buddies 800 (What an amazing quad!) He tried to spray me with mud but the 28" outlaws grabbed, my best freind Tom was looking back at me expecting to see me get covered in mud because thats what the outty does in mud it tosses it every where, instead he took off and right as he faced forward he hit a tree. Now if he had been on his own H1 that wouldnt have happened, first the axles would break, b/c they do on every ride, and if he hit the tree he would have bounced off, 2 MPH dosent hurt a quad. But on a real quad in the 10 ft he went he was probably doing 15 or 20.
When he hit the tree, IT TRIED TO CLIMB THE FLIPPIN TREE. when it got to the top of its travel it tipped over, he busted his head bad and the quad bent in the same place. but it was the only part that bent! The a-arms were still good! A lesser machine would have been worse off. He too the quad to a frame guy, had it streched, fixed and strengthend. That being said it was TOMS fault for not respecting such a machine, not the machines.
Our friend is getting bumbers and skid plates and will not let retards ride it.
Cant wait to get one but might have to settle for a 650, but at 280 lbs i need the 8~!!

bigike(jay), i read your original post of the story and yours is one of the reasons i was asking. mine was totalled and am now going to be considered an A@@ hole for not letting anyone ride my quad due to this unfortunate incident. that's been my biggest hang up, i got it so we could all have fun, not so someone else could take it out a f it all up. too bad it has to be like that.

My buddy wont let anybody ride his now either It's a shame because i love that quad, what an amazing machine!

I've read a couple of reports on other forums about the possiblity of cracked frames BUT these were just a very few complaints. It's SO hard to tell from these forums because we have no clue how the quad was ridden. I'm sure there are many shops that will tell you about some guy bringing in a quad with only a few hours and "SWEARS" he was babying it but in the meantime it looks thrashed and he wan'ts everything fixed under warranty.
I'm willing to bet MOST of those broken frame stories were from guys who were babying their quads and simply went over a pot hole and their frame broke. Total BS IMO, my best guess is guys trying to JUMP with these 640lb+rider quads and that is why they experience problems.

IMO the frame is sound. Just an opinion though. Forensic engineering, study of structural failure, is a tough job and we will never figure out on a forum if a broken weld or bent frame was design or operator caused, especially if the owner says it wasn't his fault.
What we do know is that BRP really, really screwed up in not protecting the bottom spar at the front. Also we know that BRP really, really screwed up on front end suspension regarding their advertised ground clearance of 12". We also know they are not stepping up to correct either issue, and what is worse, are perpetuating them from '06 to '07.
I won't trade my quad and also I will never have any respect for BRP/CanAM as responsible manufacturers.
