Spontaneous Grizzly Fire?
#1
My old barn just burned down with about a dozen assorted ATV's/motorcycles/snowmobiles/garden tractors in it. Not a pretty site, everything melted to the ground and no insurance. (most were a bit old so not worth it, the Grizzly was supposed to be insured but my partner in the house forgot to renew it). It was at our "summer"
house that I own with a few other guys and I had locked up the barn 3 days before the fire. I had only used the 1999 Grizzly 600 and Garden tractor that weekend and both were completely cool when locked away.
The fire inspector thinks it started at the Grizzly but I find this hard to believe. Has anyone heard of an ATV spontaneously catching fire more than two days after use? The key was definitely not in it so it was completely off. He said he has seen this before.
Not knowing what started this fire is driving me nuts.
TIA
Xmurray.

Read this 99 grizz 600 burned to the ground.
I would contact yamaha. Maybe you could get atleast your grizz back. Granted his happened while it was running but very similiar nonetheless.

The quad did have a winch, installed by the dealer. The solenoid was in the rear tool compartment and clicked on and off when the key was turned, and the key was definitely not in it when this happened.
I think I would have a difficult time proving anything. There is not much left to look at. The engines melted and ran along the cement floor pooling in the cracks. All the aluminum parts are completely gone and the steel parts are twisted and bent so much it is almost unrecognizable. A very, very sad sight. I thought maybe if there was some history of this happening I may have some hope.
Thanks,

If it was your grizz that started burning 1st it would have had to be the wires going from the battery to the solenoid.
There was a recall on some warn solenoids.....go to warn's site and check it out.
