Started with NO Oil!!
#1
Hey everyone, first time on the forum!! Well heres what happened. The wife and I where changing the oil in the ATV's and some how the plug got left out of the 2005 660 Grizzy and she started the motor, well it ram for about ten seconds before i could get it shut off, didnt do anything weird, no weird sounds. I guess what i'm asking is ten seconds running with no oil going to mess anything up??
Thanks!

If that's all the longer it ran, then I would doubt it too. If it was sitting for a while and you started it with oil, it's still gonna take about that long for it to get the oil circulating like it should anyway.

That's a 2 stroke, not really the same situation...
But it should be fine, there's always going to be a thin film of oil left on the components from the last time it ran so i don't see how it could have been messed up in only a few seconds.

I think you are fine. You might want to move the next oil change up in the event there are a few new metal chips floating around. If you are really paranoid, you could probably get the oil analyzed to see if anything funny is going on.

Ok im prob going to get it for telling you this..But it works..and works good...If you want to flush your motor to be safe..Drain your oil...Fill your oil rezzy back up with deisel...Run it for about 30 to 45 secs...Just long enough for it to make it to your top end and flush it a little...Then drain your motor..I promiss there will be alot of stuff come out..as in metal savings...Iv done this trick for 15 years and it works very good for a motor flush..I do it to my quads about evey 6 months...OK guys you can tell me how dumb i am now...but it works...and its safe..
